ICRF
International Cancer Rehabilitation Foundation
Empowering cancer recovery through specialized care, education, and connection.
Platform
Web responsive
Brief
Built from zero, the International Cancer Rehabilitation Foundation website bridges the critical gap between active cancer treatment and long-term recovery. This intuitive, bilingual digital home connects survivors with vital resources and registers global healthcare providers in a secure directory. The result is a digital ecosystem that fosters advocacy, streamlines professional coordination, and ensures no survivor has to navigate the journey to recovery alone.
The design philosophy centers on empathy, visual warmth, and professional credibility. Moving away from cold, clinical interfaces, the platform uses a comforting, human-centered palette — calming slate blues, restorative teals, and warm sand tones. Every component, from clean cards to responsive spacing, prioritizes accessibility and cognitive ease, offering a supportive experience for patients and medical professionals alike.
Restorative & empathetic palette
Soft blues, restorative teals, and warm sand accents foster trust and reduce cognitive anxiety for patients navigating recovery.
Adaptive portals
Dynamic layouts transition smoothly between public patient-facing pages and a tailored, dashboard-driven environment for healthcare providers.
Intuitive accessibility
High-contrast responsive typography and clean visual hierarchies keep content readable and navigable across every screen size.
Frictionless actions
A sticky navigation bar and a prominent floating Donate action provide quick pathways to resources and support.

What we built
Bilingual portal (English & Spanish)
Seamless localization across the entire platform, making critical resources accessible to a wider audience.
Secure provider workspace
A private dashboard where medical specialists manage profiles, showcase credentials, and register for professional events.
Multimodal resource hub
A CMS-driven library serving specialized articles, videos, and downloadable PDF guides for both survivors and clinicians.
Compliant marketing flow
A double-opt-in newsletter system integrated with Brevo keeps the community updated while ensuring GDPR compliance.
Interactive event registry
An events module where providers browse upcoming symposiums, view detailed agendas, and manage their registrations.
What we solved
Secure multi-platform user sync
Linking client-side Firebase authentication with the Sanity CMS risked exposing administrative keys, so we implemented serverless API gateways that verify security tokens and validate inputs server-side before syncing provider profiles.
Client-side image optimization
Large provider profile uploads threatened to slow directory pages and bloat CMS storage, so we built a client-side routine that automatically crops, resizes, and compresses photos before they are transmitted.
Flexible bilingual rich text
Rendering complex styled content in both English and Spanish without breaking layouts required a custom Portable Text mapping layer that translates structured fields into elegant, responsive UI elements.
Unified consent management
Respecting GDPR/HIPAA across distinct backend databases meant structuring a central API gateway to log and timestamp marketing choices in both Brevo and Sanity, keeping consent data synchronized.
